Lord no I am 35 and my bestest gaming buddy is 52 !
We have a guild with ages from 7 year old(my daughter ) through to him .The younger ones seem to enjoy having us oldies around and keep us on our toes.
We are also in alliance with couples who are not teenagers too .
Do what you enjoy the internet makes you ageless. Also it is good to know there are more mature people playing too .

PS Nightfall the newest chapter is what everyone is playing at the moment , so either that or the first one Prophesis I would recommend

I don't think you would be "too old" at least if you don't feel like that

As for which chapter, I'd say both Chapter 1 (Prophecies, classic European style) or Chapter 3 (Nightfall, northern African setting) would be a good choice, Nightfall obviously has more people on it so that might be the best. I liked Chapter 2 also, but I don't think it's beginner friendly enough. Just my two cents.

Hey my grandpa is 80 and he plays loads of games. He's more into strategy games though or I'm sure he'd be playing GW as well.
Age shouldn't be a problem here.

All it means is when you retire you'll have more time for PvP

Nope, never to old.

As long as you can balance GW and real life in a healthy way (a trap that gets most people regardless of age). Just take you time and make small goals for your character(s) and work towards them. Guildwars is a great game for being able to do 90% of it without having to spend hours grinding. I do pve mostly and this is how I do things.

I would start with Nightfall, and if you like it, not turned off, pick up original GW, then Factions latter.

I totally agree with everyone,it's not an age thing..and yes, I also stress that Factions is not a beginner's game....might have to do with the cramp feel of being in a city..imo
BTW: what's guild for name for the 7-52 year old age span?

You are never too old to play! We have a 63 year old in our guild. We are a 95% all adult guild with the average age around 26. I'm 36.

Age shouldn't matter, just like anything else like origin or religion should matter in games. after all, we're all here to have fun, aren't we?

I came from WoW directly into Factions (no Proph first) and I found the learning curve long but not too steap. There's a tooon to learn, but the pace of the game will let you learn all of it over the course of the story with minimal negative consequences.

I sent you a PM regarding age, but to answer your other question, I would pick up Nightfall first, since more people are playing that game, you will get the full experience of GW that way. The other chapters are much more bare with players, that you may end up having to hench your way through quite a bit, which in itself isn't a problem really, but you would get much much more interaction (as well experience all of GW's new features) if you pick up the 3rd chapter.

Age shouldn't impede you in the slightest. If you have a problem, get a monkey. To what end? I don't know but get one, its the right thing to do.........

Its nice to see more people of the mature age set playing!!! I am 40 and my hubby 38, his brother 39 and we all play.....good to have you on board!!!!!

and for the other question.....prophecy is the one that began everything, it takes a long time to level up your character; but you will learn everything during that stage-----the new chapter nightfall has a pretty good beginner island so you can pick up skills and such, not to mention the choice of just about all of the classes. So my recommendation is either or both of those----the other choice, factions, is a very fast quick game, so I would say to start with one of the others and then if you want to get the last (factions) one.

good luck and happy gaming!

Im 63 and retired. I have all three of the games. I have played many games in my past but I am totally amazed at the comprehensiveness and awesome graphics that I find in the series. With regard to gaming all that age and retirement means to me is that now I have more time to play them instead of only being able to play them after work and on weekends.

I like the scenery in factions. I have a guild hall with the isle of meditation. I especially like the waterfalls.

I really enjoy playing these games - hope you do!!

I'm an old gamer from way back, and will turn 60 in a few weeks. My reaction speed has dropped off a bit from back in the day, and sometimes I'll have a "senior moment" and forget something, but I'm still enjoying it, and taking on shooters like F.E.A.R. (just bought the expansion ). I've been playing Guild Wars since the day Prophecies was released, and have to admit that it's given me the best "bang for the buck" of any game I've played.
